A/V System Engineer

Position Summary : Mesa Electronics, Inc seeks an A/V Engineer (programming is optional and beneficial) to provide senior technical and design support for the Audio/Visual (A/V) line of business. Possesses advanced to light programming skills (optional), design, and engineering skills regarding A/V systems. Possesses advanced training and extensive relevant experience regarding A/V systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret A/V systems drawings and specifications
  • Gather programming requirements
  • Provide control system design and audio/visual design
  • Produce new modules and interfaces
  • Create technical standards, processes and procedures
  • Mentor junior A/V engineers and technicians
  • Install control programs and touch panel design onsite, offsite, and remotely in physical systems
  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting as needed
  • Demonstrate and train customers on installed systems
  • Assist manufacturers and customers with problem resolution as needed
  • Travel to various job sites as required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with test and calibration equipment
  • Proficient in programming languages
  • Proficient in uploading and downloading software in embedded systems
  • Proficient in control system design (Crestron/AMX/Extron)
  • Understanding of DSP programming
  • Ability to diagnose and test complex system problems
  • Advanced computer skills for the design, configuration, optimization and operations of AV equipment

Understanding of computer networking and troubleshooting


  • BS/BA in a related field. May substitute 5 years of relevant experience for the degree.
  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)
  • Creston & Extron Certified Design or AMX Certified Expert

(OPTINAL) Programming skills:

  • Provide programming and technical direction to project team when needed (optional)
  • Creston & Extron Certified Programmer or AMX Certified Expert (optional) 
  • Design/program Control System and Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  • Perform commissioning and acceptance testing of code

Compensation: Depends on experience and level of education/training/certification(s). Please note programming is not a requirement but beneficial.
